UCDC’s First-Ever Overnight Camp: A Memorable Experience for Class IV Students

On February 19th and 20th, 2025, the Class IV students of the UCDC embarked on an unforgettable adventure—their first-ever overnight camp. This milestone event was held at the YMCA Campsite in Nilshi, a picturesque location approximately 175 km from Mumbai. As the students near the end of their time at UCDC and prepare to transition to secondary school, this outing was thoughtfully planned to provide them with cherished memories of their journey at the Centre.

Making the Trip Possible

The cost of the camp was a significant factor, as it was beyond the financial reach of many students’ families. However, thanks to the generosity of a few kind-hearted sponsors, a substantial portion of the expenses was covered. UCDC stepped in to bear the remaining costs, ensuring that every child had the opportunity to partake in this unique experience without financial constraints.

A Fun-Filled Experience

The YMCA Campsite at Nilshi is an ideal setting for children to engage in a variety of exciting activities. The students enthusiastically tried their hands at archery, wall climbing (rappelling), and the challenging Swing and Walk rope course. Additionally, they enjoyed refreshing swims and thrilling kayaking sessions. Under the watchful guidance of trained YMCA staff, safety remained a top priority, allowing the children to explore and test their abilities in a secure and supportive environment.

Memories to Last a Lifetime

The two-day excursion was not just about fun and adventure—it was a deeply enriching experience that fostered confidence, teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment among the students. For many, it was their first experience away from home, making it a significant step in their personal growth. The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm shared during the trip were a testament to its success. This inaugural overnight camp will undoubtedly remain etched in the hearts of the children, serving as a treasured memory of their time at UCDC. It was an experience that exemplified the power of generosity, community support, and the joy of exploration, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.
